Let’s camp on Paul’s almost excessive language in Ephesians.
Every spiritual blessing is ours in Christ.
The riches of his grace have been lavished on us.
We have a rich and glorious inheritance.
God’s power is immeasurably great toward us.
All things have been under Jesus’ feet. He is head over all things and he fills all in all.
God is rich in mercy and has great love for us.
In the coming ages God will show us the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ.
Paul was given to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ.
In Christ we have boldness and confident access to God.
Paul prays that the Ephesians would be strengthened with power in their inner being according to the riches of God’s glory.
He prays they would have strength to comprehend the boundless nature of God’s love which is beyond our knowledge and that they would be filled with all the fullness of God.
God is able to do far…more…abundantly…
This is just in the first three chapters. The word rich or riches is used six times in the first three chapters. Also notice the words fill, fullness, all, abundantly, immeasurable, unsearchable.
Ponder how great our God is in his love and grace toward us. Paul desires and prays that we would have the strength to comprehend how great it is. We are not deserving and yet God freely gives. Our God is no miser.
